Mexico in general
Mexico is an experience on its own. You can find everything: miles of beaches, deserted deserts and impenetrable jungles until mountain ranges with white peaks. What you find most is color, smell and music, which you will carry the rest of your live with you.
The Mexicans themselves with their rich history of the Aztecs and Mayas are the reason why you will never forget a visit to this country. It is not only the warmth of the sun you feel when to exit your plane, but it’s more the warmth of the people which you will feel always and everywhere. Mexico has the size of 1.958.201 km2. The border with the USA on the north side is 3.326 km of length.
In the south Mexico shares its borders with Guatemala and Belize. The official language is Spanish. This Mexican Spanish knows some grammatical differences from the Castilian. The reason for this lies in the English influences from the north and the words in Náhuatl, the language of the Aztecs. Náhuatl is after Spanish the biggest language group and is spoken by over a million descendants from the Aztecs. Over 500.000 Mayas speak the Mayan language or a related language of the Mayan culture. The fourth language spoken in the country is the language of the Zapotec Indians. You can handle yourself with English in almost corner of the country.

Divers Health
Montezuma's Revenge is the most frequently known illness with tourists. Due to the time-differences, change of climate and different food it is sometimes only a matter of time before diarrhoea comes up. Sometimes it's accompanied with fever. To prevent this follow these rules:
- Wash your hands before eating and after using the bathroom.
- Don't eat food sold on the streets.
- Avoid drinking too much alcohol, which shouldn't be a big deal when you are diving.
- Drink only mineralwater from a bottle.
- Don't eat uncooked vedgetables.

The popular tourist season in Cozumel is generally considered to be from December through March. The main reason that this is the season most enjoyed by tourists is that they can escape cold temperatures in other parts of the world and enjoy the warmth of Cozumel, which averages seventy degrees at night and eighty five degrees during the day.
The hottest month is August which averages eighty degrees at night and ninety five degrees during the day. The heat is offset by the ocean breezes and is generally comfortable for most people. The rainy season in Cozumel starts in late summer or early fall. |
